HVAC ESTIMATE CALCULATOR

An HVAC estimate calculator: a price range before the in-home visit.

Homeowners hesitate to book a sales visit when they can’t tell if a new system costs four figures or five. A calculator running on your own numbers answers that first.

WHERE IT BREAKS

Estimate calculators for HVAC contractors: what goes wrong.

01

Questions nobody can answer

Homeowners don’t know their tonnage or efficiency rating. Ask, and they leave the page.

02

One price for every system

A single “starting at” number ignores the gap between a straight AC swap and a heat pump conversion with new ducts.

03

Rebates promised too early

Showing rebate amounts before eligibility is checked sets up a disappointing in-home visit.

WHAT WE RUN

Built for HVAC contractors. Run by us.

Questions in homeowner language

Square footage, what’s there now, and which rooms never get comfortable.

Good, better, best ranges

Ranges for your equipment tiers, so homeowners see options before your advisor walks in.

Duct and permit notes

The result flags when duct replacement or permits can move the price, including Title 24 work in California.

Answers sent to the comfort advisor

The booking carries every input and the range the homeowner saw.

AN EXAMPLE WE WROTE

Example HVAC calculator question set (illustration only)

  1. 01What do you want to do? (Replace AC / Replace furnace / Replace both / Switch to a heat pump / Add ductless)
  2. 02Roughly how many square feet? (Below 1,500 / 1,500 to 2,500 / 2,500 to 3,500 / Over 3,500)
  3. 03Age of the system you have now? (Under 10 / 10–15 / 15+ years / Not sure)
  4. 04Any rooms that never get comfortable? (Yes, upstairs / Yes, one room / No)
  5. 05Has the ductwork ever been replaced? (Yes / No / Not sure)
  6. 06Result: good, better, best ranges from your pricing, financing you offer, and a note that ducts and permits are confirmed in person, then the advisor’s calendar.

STRAIGHT ANSWERS

Questions we hear.

Can a calculator size an HVAC system?

No, and it shouldn’t pretend to. Sizing takes a load calculation at the home. The calculator gives a price range by square footage and equipment type so the homeowner knows what they’re booking.

Should the calculator show equipment brands?

Only if brand drives how you sell. Tiers are easier for a homeowner to read than model numbers, and they leave your advisor room to recommend the right unit.

What about rebates and tax credits?

We list the programs you actually work with and phrase them as possible, pending eligibility. The calculator never promises a rebate amount.

Does the calculator replace our in-home estimate?

No. Your comfort advisor still measures, checks the ducts, and writes the proposal. They just walk in with a homeowner who already knows the range.

Your crew is ready for the next job. Is your calendar?

Seven questions. Two minutes. See the one part of your engine holding your projects back.
