Who it’s for
Contractor owners seeing these signs in their pipeline
Where it comes from
  • Attention: Campaigns, ads, and links aren’t named or tagged the same way, so even good data can’t be sorted by what produced it.
  • Offer: Leads arrive through a website form, a Facebook form, a phone call, and a text, and only some of those record where the homeowner came from.
  • Sales: Once a lead turns into an estimate, it moves into a phone, a notebook, or a spreadsheet, and the source gets left behind.
  • System: Nobody lines up ad spend against signed jobs, so cost per lead is the only number anyone looks at.

SOUND FAMILIAR?

The signs you’re losing jobs here.

  • The report says we got plenty of leads. I can’t tell you which ones signed.
  • Every source claims credit for the same job.
  • We ask homeowners how they heard about us, and most say “online.”
  • I can’t tell whether to raise the ad budget or cut it.
  • Our leads, estimates, and invoices live in three different places.
THE DIAGNOSIS

Four places it breaks. Four fixes.

Attention × Offer × Sales × System. The problem usually lives in one part and shows up in another.

01Attention
The cause

Campaigns, ads, and links aren’t named or tagged the same way, so even good data can’t be sorted by what produced it.

The fix

Every campaign and link tagged with a consistent source, so each lead arrives labeled with the ad that brought it in.

Contractor Advertising
02Offer
The cause

Leads arrive through a website form, a Facebook form, a phone call, and a text, and only some of those record where the homeowner came from.

The fix

Project pages that capture the source on every form and booking, so the label travels with the lead instead of getting lost after the click.

Project Pages
03Sales
The cause

Once a lead turns into an estimate, it moves into a phone, a notebook, or a spreadsheet, and the source gets left behind.

The fix

A pipeline where each lead keeps its source from inquiry to booked estimate to signed job, with your team updating the stage as it moves.

Sales Pipeline
04System
The cause

Nobody lines up ad spend against signed jobs, so cost per lead is the only number anyone looks at.

The fix

Monthly reporting on cost per booked estimate and cost per signed job by campaign, built from your own pipeline, not the platform’s count.

Conversion Tracking
WHAT WE’D FIX FIRST

Label the source, then carry it to the contract

We don’t start with a dashboard. We make sure every new lead arrives with its source attached and keeps it through booking, the estimate, and signing. Once a full sales cycle has run, you have something no platform report shows: which campaigns produced signed jobs, and what each of those jobs cost to win.

PUT A NUMBER ON IT

Contractor marketing ROI: is your marketing paying you back?

STRAIGHT ANSWERS

Questions we hear.

Can’t I just ask homeowners how they heard about us?

Ask, and write the answer down, but don’t rely on it alone. Homeowners often see an ad, search your name later, and then say they found you on Google. Source labels capture what they clicked. Asking adds the context labels miss.

What about phone calls?

Calls are the hardest part to trace, and we’re careful about what we promise there. Forms, bookings, and texts carry their source cleanly. For calls, ask us on the strategy call what fits your setup.

Do I need new software to track this?

Not always. If you already use a CRM or field service tool that can hold a lead source, we can usually work with it. If leads live in texts and scattered notes, a simple pipeline comes first.

How long before the ROI numbers mean anything?

Long enough for leads to become signed jobs. For a quick repair that might be weeks. For a remodel it can be months. Early on, watch cost per booked estimate. Cost per signed job settles once enough jobs have closed.
