META ADS FOR SOLAR

Solar Facebook ads that sell batteries, not “free solar.”

The “zero-cost solar” ad trained homeowners to scroll past. Video from your own roofs, with your crew explaining storage plainly, earn the click from people who can actually sign.

WHERE IT BREAKS

Facebook & Instagram ads for solar installers: what goes wrong.

01

“Free solar” creative

Promises of no-cost panels pull clicks from people who will never sign, and Meta happily goes looking for more of them.

02

Ads still selling the old math

Creative built around big export credits sets an expectation your consultant has to walk back at the table.

03

Instant forms with no screening

A one-tap form can’t tell a homeowner from a renter, or a new roof from one that needs replacing first.

WHAT WE RUN

Built for solar installers. Run by us.

Storage-first creative

Short videos where your installer explains, next to a real install, why storage matters more to the math now.

Trust over hype

Your trucks, your crew, your license number, and an install filmed start to finish. Homeowners want an installer who will still answer for service.

Optimize on screened consultations

Meta learns from homeowners who passed screening and booked, not from raw form fills.

Fresh creative on a schedule

New videos rotate in before homeowners in your area stop noticing the old ones.

AN EXAMPLE WE WROTE

Example 30-second ad script: solar plus battery (written by BlueSmith, not a client ad)

  1. 010–3s: Your installer on a roof, panels behind him: “If someone told you solar is free, hang up.”
  2. 023–12s: “In California the rules changed in 2023. Power you send back earns less. The value is in using your own.”
  3. 0312–20s: A battery being mounted in a garage. “This is what lets you use your own solar after sunset.”
  4. 0420–26s: Wide shot of the finished install, with your company name and license number on screen.
  5. 0526–30s: On-screen text: “Enter your bill. Get a panel and storage price range.” Button: Get my estimate.

STRAIGHT ANSWERS

Questions we hear.

Do Facebook ads still work for solar after NEM 3.0?

They can. The message changed: storage and self-consumption instead of selling power back. Ads that explain it straight give skeptical homeowners a reason to stop scrolling.

Can Meta target only homeowners?

Not reliably. That’s why the screening sits on the page: ownership, roof, bill, and utility are asked before anyone books.

Should we run battery ads to existing solar owners?

If you add storage to systems other companies installed, yes. That’s a separate offer with a separate page. Those owners ask different questions than first-time buyers.

What does it cost to run solar ads?

There’s no standard figure. Work backward from a signed system’s value, how often your reps close, and their weekly consultation capacity. The ad budget calculator does the math. Spend goes directly to Meta.

Your crew is ready for the next job. Is your calendar?
