HOW IT WORKS

Three steps. Your numbers.

  1. 01

    Enter your numbers

Enter your revenue goal for the year.

  2. 02

    Watch it recalculate

Choose the share of revenue you’ll put toward marketing and the part of that going to ad spend.

  3. 03

    Use the answer

Hold the monthly number up against what your job count needs before you commit to it.

How the math works

Yearly marketing budget

Revenue goal × the marketing share you choose. That’s the whole pot for the year.

Monthly marketing budget

Yearly budget ÷ 12. An even split; seasonal trades will want to weight some months heavier.

Ad spend inside it

Monthly budget × the share you send to ad spend. The remainder covers everything that isn’t paid to the platforms.

Example numbers, not a benchmark

$1,200,000 goal × 5% = $60,000 a year, or $5,000 a month. With 60% going to ads, that’s $3,000 a month in ad spend and $2,000 for everything else.

STRAIGHT ANSWERS

Questions we hear.

What percentage should I use?

Your call. Start from what you could carry through a month that brings nothing, then check it against the jobs you need with the revenue goal and ad budget calculators. The tool won’t pick one for you.

Should the goal be total revenue or new revenue?

Either works if you’re consistent. Some owners budget against total revenue. Others use only the part they want marketing to bring, since referrals and repeat work cover the rest. The tool just multiplies.

What goes in the part that isn’t ad spend?

Agency fees, video shoots, landing pages, software, and tracking. With BlueSmith, ad spend is paid straight to the ad platform, separate from what you pay us.

Is this better than working back from jobs?

It answers a different question. This shows what a percentage means in dollars. The ad budget calculator shows what a job count needs. Run both and see whether they agree.
